Eleanor Ruffner has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 2004. Eleanor focuses her practice on the litigation needs of the firm’s business clients. The majority of her current practice is devoted to resolving disputes arising from contractual or other legal relationships and obligations; from the purchase, sale, merger, or breakup of companies and partnerships; from allegations of financial fraud; and from the performance or breach of fiduciary obligations. In addition, she also represents select clients in appellate proceedings, complex contested probate litigation, and administrative disputes against the State of Texas.
Eleanor has litigated a variety of matters in state and federal court, handling disputes from pre-suit investigation and counseling through exhaustive appeals. Over the course of her career, she has represented and advised individuals, small businesses, and international companies on a broad range of subjects, including commercial and contract disputes, fiduciary obligations, business divorces, securities law violations, intellectual property claims, antitrust regulations, personal injury defense (including toxic tort, premises, and products liability), professional malpractice, and constitutional rights.
In addition to her private law practice, Eleanor also serves as an adjunct at the University of Texas School of Law. In the Fall Semester, she teaches Intensive Trial Skills and serves as an instructor for the UT Law Advocacy Program's Fall Litigation Institute. In the spring, she serves as an instructor for the UT Law Advocacy Program's Spring Trial Academy and teaches Advocacy outside the Courtroom.
Eleanor and her husband, Tom (also an attorney in Austin), have two young children and a rescue dog. In her recreational time she practices yoga with more enthusiasm than skill.
